Brazil's state-run oil company, Petrobras, has awarded a multi-year contract to oilfield services company Baker Hughes to provide integrated well construction services for the Buzios field offshore Brazil.

The integrated services project, scheduled to commence in the first half of 2025, will encompass a comprehensive suite of services.

These include cementing, drilling, drill bits, fishing, fluids, geosciences, remedial tools, services, wellbore clean-up and wireline.

Baker Hughes is set to deliver these services across three rigs throughout the contract duration.

Baker Hughes oilfield services and equipment executive vice-president Maria Claudia Borras said: “Baker Hughes is proud to contribute to this significant project and expand our long-standing relationship with Petrobras, establishing ourselves as a major provider of integrated solutions in Brazil.

“This agreement further highlights our broad capabilities in well construction, as well as our continued commitment to deliver excellence and value for customers.”

Baker Hughes has previously contributed to the Buzios field's initial development phase, offering advanced technology and equipment.

The company's involvement included drilling, completions and wireline services, as well as the supply of water and gas (WAG) manifolds and more than 240km of flexible pipes for production, gas lift, water injection and gas injection, designed for depths of 2,000m.

Furthermore, Baker Hughes has provided turbomachinery for ten out of the 11 floating production storage and offloading units in the field.

This equipment included turbogenerators, motocompressors and turbocompressors, along with monitoring systems for condition detection and fault protection on critical machinery.

Earlier this year, Petrobras awarded a drilling contract worth around $519m to Valaris for the Buzios oilfield project.

Located in the pre-salt Campos Basin off the coast of Brazil, Buzios is one of the world’s largest deep-water fields.

Commissioned in April 2018, the Buzios field is owned and operated by Petrobras.
