AG&P LNG, along with its consortium members, has secured a 20-year contract for the development of LNG infrastructure from PLN Energi Primer Indonesia (PLN EPI).
Besides AG&P Indonesia, the consortium includes Suasa Benua Sukses and KPM Oil and Gas.
As part of the plan, AG&P Indonesia and its partners will form a joint venture (JV) with PLN EPI, which will be the customer and co-shareholder of the facility.
The JV will collaborate on the design, financing, construction, ownership and operations of the LNG import terminal infrastructure and downstream logistics across seven locations in Sulawesi-Maluku cluster in Indonesia.
The infrastructure development will encompass an LNG carrier, a floating storage and regasification unit, and several onshore regasification sites.
Ultimately, this project will supply LNG to power plants with a total capacity of 1.51GW.
With a total regasifiaction capacity of 2.3 million tonnes per annum, the Sulawesi-Maluku LNG Cluster is expected to be commissioned in the first half of 2026.
PLN EPI director of gas and fuel Rakhmad Dewanto said: “This partnership will be pivotal to the development of LNG midstream infrastructures to power cluster project in Indonesia, where Sulawesi-Maluku cluster is the largest.
“PLN EPI will be responsible to supply the LNG from its portfolio and trust that the consortium members will deliver the project timely in the first half of 2026. This will be a milestone in our country's continued transition towards more reliable and cleaner energy."
AG&P LNG CEO Karthik Sathyamoorthy said: "The Sulawesi-Maluku cluster LNG terminals project epitomises Indonesia's steadfast commitment to LNG-based infrastructure for power generation and will support the country's overall goal to reduce the usage of liquid fuel by about 1.7 million kilolitres per year across all clusters."
Earlier in the month, Nebula Energy-backed AG&P LNG expanded its reach in South East Asia with the acquisition of a 49% stake in the Cai Mep LNG Import Terminal in Vietnam.
