Engineering solutions provider Seatrium has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with BP Exploration & Production (bp) for the Tiber floating production unit (FPU) project, aimed at enhancing deep-water production in the Gulf of Mexico.

The MOU outlines Seatrium’s role in providing engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) services for the FPU.

The Tiber FPU project, designed to meet the demands of deep-water production, is expected to feature advanced technologies to boost operational efficiency and safety.

The Tiber discovery is located approximately 300 miles south-west of New Orleans in the Keathley Canyon of the Gulf of Mexico.

The contract award for the Tiber project is contingent upon bp’s final investment decision (FID), which is expected later in 2025.

Under the MOU, bp and Seatrium will together outline the initial works and EPCC scope.

This agreement builds upon the existing partnership between the two companies, following the Kaskida FPU, which reached its FID in 2024.

The Kaskida field is situated approximately 250 miles south-west of New Orleans in the Keathley Canyon area of the Gulf of America.

The Kaskida FPU is built to support a single topside module on a four-column semi-submersible hull, anchored to subsea production wells in around 6,000ft of water.

The Tiber MOU seeks to apply the lessons and technological advancements gained from the ongoing Kaskida project to drive operational excellence in completing the Tiber FPU.

Like Kaskida, the Tiber FPU project will utilise Seatrium’s topsides single-lift integration methodology.

In November 2024, Seatrium delivered the Var, a newbuild jackup rig, to Borr Drilling nearly one year ahead of schedule.

This marks the completion of the fifth and final B Class jackup rig that Seatrium delivered to Borr Drilling.

The first three rigs in the series were novated by Borr Drilling to ADNOC Drilling and delivered in 2022 and 2023, while the fourth rig was delivered by Seatrium to Borr Drilling in August 2024.
