TechnipFMC has secured a ‘large’ integrated engineering, procurement, construction and installation (iEPCI) contract from Energean for the Katlan development in the Mediterranean Sea.

The contract, which falls within the $500m–1bn range, was included in TechnipFMC’s second-quarter Subsea inbound orders.

The Katlan development marks Energean’s inaugural project utilising TechnipFMC’s configure-to-order Subsea 2.0 production systems.

It follows an integrated front end engineering and design (iFEED) study by TechnipFMC, which refined the commercial and technological approach for the field.

Katlan is a group of formations located offshore Israel.

After an exploration campaign in 2022, it was determined that the field holds 1.1 trillion cubic feet of gas in proven and probable (2P) reserves.

When considering liquids, Katlan’s total 2P reserves amount to 205.9 million barrels of oil equivalent.

The contract encompasses the design, production and installation of the production systems, pipelines, umbilicals and subsea structures.

These subsea infrastructures will be connected to the Energean Power floating production, storage and offloading vessel, which is already servicing the Karish and Karish North developments.

TechnipFMC has previously delivered fully integrated subsea solutions for both Karish and Karish North.

TechnipFMC president of Subsea Jonathan Landes commented: “Combining iFEED to optimise field layout with our Subsea 2.0 platform and integrated project execution model accelerates the time to first production at Katlan.

“This is another iEPCI with Energean, demonstrating the collaborative relationship of our two companies which enables TechnipFMC to continue to deliver improved project economics.”

In May, TechnipFMC landed a significant iEPCI contract from Woodside Energy in Australia for the Xena Phase 3 development, aimed at bolstering production at the Pluto liquified natural gas project.
