Offshore installation and construction firm Subsea 7 has secured a sizeable contract by Aker BP for the Hod Field Development Project in the southern part of the Norwegian North Sea.
The Hod oil and gas field lies at a water depth of 72m, 12km south of the Valhall field complex.
It is operated by Aker BP with a 90% working interest and is co-owned by Pandion Energy with a 10% interest. Production from the Hod field started in August 1990.
The redevelopment project involves a new wellhead platform ‘Hod B’, tied back to the nearby Valhall field centre via rigid pipelines and an umbilical.
Under the work scope of the contract, Subsea 7 will provide engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) for pipelines, umbilicals, as well as tie-ins using vessels from its own fleet.
Subsea 7 said: “The production pipeline is a pipe-in-pipe design and will include the world’s first application of mechanically lined pipe based on GluBi technology from BUTTING.”
