German engineering company Siemens has been chosen to provide centrifugal compressor systems for Saudi Arabia’s state-owned firm Saudi Aramco’s Hawiyah Unaizah Gas Reservoir Storage (HUGRS) project.
The HUGRS project is located in Hawiyah, 260km east of Riyadh.
It includes a gas injection facility of 1,500 million standard cubic feet per day (Mmscfd) and a 2,000 Mmscfd gas reprocessing facility.
The project is located 260km east of Saudi Arabia’s capital city Riyadh.
Once the project is completed, it will introduce surplus pipelines gas into the existing well during winter and reproduce gas to match the increase in demand in the summer.
Siemens Energy Industrial Applications Products senior vice-president Arja Talakar said: “We have a track record of fastest delivery times and a dedicated local workforce to produce these units in our Dammam facility in line with our commitment to Aramco’s In-Kingdom Total Value Add programme.”
