Offshore drilling contractor Seadrill has completed the sale of its jack-up rig West Prospero for $45m.

Built in 2007, the West Prospero is an independent-leg cantilever jack-up rig with an operational history spanning Northeast Africa and Southeast Asia.

The West Prospero is designed as Mod V-B, registered under the Panama flag and classified by DNV.

Its dimensions stand at 71m x 63m x 7.6m, and it features a robust jacking system with 12 pinions per leg. It can accommodate up to 120 personnel, providing ample space for both crew and operational staff.

Seadrill president and chief executive officer Simon Johnson said: “With the sale of the West Prospero, we have monetized a non-core asset that has been stacked since 2016 and successfully executed on our strategy to exit the benign jack-up market”.

With a variable load capacity of 2,545mt during transit and 3,455mt while drilling, the West Prospero is capable of operating in water depths of up to 122m and can achieve a maximum drilling depth of 9,144m.
