Engineering company Saipem has secured two contracts in Saudi Arabia, with a combined value of approximately $1bn (£759.16m), for the Zuluf and Safaniyah offshore fields.
The contracts have been awarded under the existing long-term agreement with state-owned oil and gas major Saudi Aramco.
Under the first contract, Saipem’s responsibilities include the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of three production deck modules (PDMs), 33km of subsea rigid pipelines and 34km of subsea power cables in the Marjan field.
The pipelines will have diameters of 12in and 16in, which is integral to the field’s infrastructure.
The second contract entails the EPCI of three jackets, five PDMs, 22km of 16in diameter subsea rigid pipelines, 5km of subsea flexible pipelines and 35km of subsea power cables.
For the execution of the offshore components, Saipem will utilise its fleet of construction vessels currently operating in the region.
