Técnicas Reunidas has been awarded a contract, worth around $560m, (€515m) by QatarEnergy for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) work pertaining to the North Field South Project.
Under the contract, the Spain-based company will be responsible for the construction of pipelines, interconnections, ancillary systems as well as other supporting components for the LNG Offplot facilities for the North Field South Project.
The scope of the work includes the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning of a range of off–plot facilities.
These facilities include the LNG rundown lines, boil–off gas (BOG) recovery and utility pipelines that are intended to connect the southern part of Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLIC) to new storage tanks and export facilities in northern part of RLIC.
Furthermore, Técnicas Reunidas will build and commission LNG tanks, an LNG loading berth, BOG compressors, and associated equipment.
In a press statement, Técnicas Reunidas said: “This award cements Técnicas Reunidas’ relationship with QatarEnergy as Tecnicas Reunidas has been working on large–scale projects related to the expansion of the North Field since 2021.”

In a joint venture with Wison Engineering, Tecnicas is also undertaking the EPC works for the sulphur handling facility for the North Field Expansion Project.
Located north–east of the Qatar peninsula, the North Field is said to be the world’s largest non–associated natural gas field and holds about 10% of the world’s known natural gas reserves.
