Under the EPC contract, Keppel Offshore & Marine’s (Keppel O&M) subsidiary Keppel Shipyard will build the P-78 FPSO unit.
The P-78 FPSO will be the seventh unit to be deployed in the Búzios field in the Santos Basin pre-salt area.

Planned to be completed in late 2024, the FPSO will have a production capacity of 180,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd), 7.2 million cubic metres (Mm³) of gas per day and a storage capacity of two million barrels of oil.
In a press statement, Petrobras said: “The supply of the FPSO will result from the EPC contracting modality and from Petrobras’ strategy of developing new projects for its own platforms, incorporating the lessons learned from the FPSOs already installed in the pre-salt, including contracting and construction aspects.”
Keppel O&M will fabricate the topside modules of the PFSO at its shipyards in Singapore, China and Brazil. It will also carry out the related integration and commissioning works.
Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), Keppel O&M’s partner, will deliver the hull and the living quarters for the FPSO.

By GlobalDataKeppel O&M said it will also undertake the final phase of offshore commissioning work of the FPSO once it reaches the Buzios field.
Keppel O&M CEO Chris Ong said: “This project taps our well-recognised capabilities as a leading integrator of offshore energy and infrastructure assets, leveraging our strengths in engineering and project management, with a focus on higher value-adding work.
“It is also aligned with the transformation plans, which we had announced, where not all of the work will be done at our yards.”
Keppel’s yard in Angra dos Reis in Brazil is currently undertaking integration and fabrication work for two other FPSOs.
These two FPSO are planned for deployment in the Sepia field and the Buzios field.
