Scottish oil and gas services company Wood Group has won an order from Flint Hills Resources (FHR) to deliver detailed engineering, procurement and other services for the modification of FHR’s West refinery at Corpus Christi in southern parts of Texas, US.

Upgrade at the refinery, which derives US crude primarily from the Eagle Ford shale region to produce transportation fuels, is expected to increase its processing capacity.

Earlier Flint Hills Resources vice president and manufacturing manager Valerie Pompa had said: "This project will allow us to process more of the crude that is in our backyard due to Eagle Ford, while reducing criteria air emissions."

Wood Group is expected to complete the engineering works for the project in mid-2016.

Conceptual and front-end engineering design phases of the project have been carried out by the firm’s unit Wood Group Mustang.

Besides engineering and procurement services, the firm is also expected to offer module fabrication oversight and construction engineering support services for the project.

FHR and Wood Group are collaborating for the project upgrade works in Houston, US and Bogota, Colombia.

Wood Group Mustang Process Plants & Industrial president Curt Watson said: "We are pleased that Flint Hills Resources selected Wood Group Mustang to be the engineer for its Project Eagle Ford.
