Sembcorp Marine has entered a $1bn engineering and construction deal with Heerema Offshore Services for construction of a new DP3 semi-submersible crane vessel (NSCV).

The NSCV will be built at the Sembcorp Marine Tuas Boulevard Yard in Singapore and will be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2018.

The NSCV is expected to be the largest dual-fuel semi-submersible crane vessel in the world and will feature two Huisman heavy-lifting offshore cranes having 10,000mt lifting capacity, and will include a large reinforced work deck area.

It will also have a width of 102m, a length of 220m, and displacement of 273,700mt.

Sembcorp Marine said that Tuas Boulevard Yard is designed to provide maximise operational synergy and production efficiency where the vessel will be built.

The yard is spread across 34.5ha and will include another three dry docks, a steel fabrication facility and, along with an offshore dock measuring 255m by 110m.
