US-based RigNet has been selected to deliver remote offshore communications services to an unnamed Southeast Asian offshore drilling and production assets operator.
Under the terms of the contract signed with the company, RigNet will provide managed remote communications solutions on the company’s mobile offshore production unit (MOPU).
The solutions include telephony, network support and on-board crew WiFi service, and a fibre-optic backhaul that will connect the client’s headquarters to RigNet’s teleport in Singapore.
RigNet’s Global Network Operations Center will manage the network monitoring and support with in-country support services provided on their offshore site based on the requirement.
RigNet CEO and president Mark Slaughter said: "The combination of higher-specification assets working in increasingly remote locations, while utilising smarter tools and networked teams, makes secure and reliable access a critical aspect of today’s energy industry.
"To meet these needs, RigNet delivers a communications architecture designed from the outset to include real-time traffic management and around-the-clock support to enable operations to flourish in the most challenging conditions."
