US-based oil company Hess has selected Harris CapRock Communications to provide, integrated telecommunications solutions to support the company’s Stampede offshore field development project in the Gulf of Mexico.
For the 22-system telecommunications project located in the Green Canyon area, Harris CapRock will buy equipment, in addition to performing factory acceptance testing, project engineering as well as detailed design and project management, as per the agreement.
According to Harris CapRock, the solution supports audio/video conferencing, satellite along with wireless communication.
Harris CapRock Communications president Tracey Haslam said: "Choosing Harris CapRock as a single-source telecom provider for comprehensive systems integration improves responsiveness, as well as saves time and money for Hess.
"Reliable customer service throughout the integration process will lead to reliable network communications for operators in the field."
Hess owns 25% working interest in the Stampede oil and gas project which is expected to require an investment of $6bn and involves the development of the Pony and Knotty Head deepwater fields.

In the second quarter of 2013, Hess began front-end engineering and design for the project, taking the final investment decision in October 2014.
Chevron’s subsidiary Union Oil Company of California, Statoil and Nexen Petroleum Offshore all each own a 25% stake in Stampede.
