Italian company Eni has shipped the first liquefied natural gas (LNG) produced from Jangkrik field located off the coast of Indonesia. 

The 22,500m³ cargo that left the Bontang Liquefaction Plant in East Kalimantan will be unloaded at Bali under a long-term LNG contract signed with PT Pertamina in June 2015.

Eni started gas production at Jangkrik last month. Gas was processed onboard the FPU ‘Jangkrik’ and then transported to the Bontang gas liquefaction plant through the East Kalimantan Transportation System. 

The Jangkrik project is located in the Muara Bakau block in Kutei basin.

Eni operates the Muara Bakau with a 55% working interest through its subsidiary Eni Muara Bakau.

Other partners are Engie E&P (through its subsidiary GDF SUEZ Exploration Indonesia) with a 33.334% stake and PT Saka Energi Muara Bakau with an 11.666% share. 

The company has been operating in Indonesia since 2001. Currently, its production activities are located in the Mahakam River delta, East Kalimantan, through VICO.
