BroadSeis data

Geoscience company CGG has completed data processing of all four phases of its BandaSeis 2D BroadSeis multi-client programme, targeting the Banda Arc around East Indonesia and Timor Leste.

Covering more than 14,000km of broadband seismic data, the regional programme was carried out by the company in co-operation with the Indonesian Directorate General of Oil and Gas (Migas) and the Timor Leste National Petroleum Authority (ANP).

CGG Multi-Client & New Ventures executive vice-president Luc Schlumberger said: "The offshore Banda Arc is an exciting, geologically complex area of great interest to petroleum explorers.

"Explorationists will benefit from more accurate and higher-resolution models of the subsurface, which enhance reservoir understanding in this frontier area."

CCG processed the data to pre-stack depth migration (PSDM) in four stages in its imaging centre located in Singapore and the final phase is set for delivery at the end of the second quarter.

"Explorationists will benefit from more accurate and higher-resolution models of the subsurface, which enhance reservoir understanding in this frontier area."

Using the final seismic images, explorationists will be able to understand the geological development and prospectivity of the Banda Arc.

The PSDM volumes are set to provide information with regard to Mesozoic sedimentary successions, including the deltaic and marginal marine lower to middle Jurassic Plover Formation.

The formation contains sandstones in the nearby Laminaria and Corallina fields, together with the Abadi and Bintuni Bay gasfields of East Indonesia.

According to the company, the complete programme will be complemented by a tectonic and structural interpretation due to be completed by GeoConsulting by the end of this year.

Earlier this month, CGG completed the acquisition of a 3D seismic survey over the Hail and Shuweihat oil and gas fields in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi with the support of its Seabed Geosolutions joint venture with Fugro.
