Broadland Radiators has developed two customised radiators to aid cool generator sets, which are to be deployed at the Culzean gas field located in the North Sea.
The radiators will be used to cool emergency (EDG) and essential (ESG) generator sets intended for the hostile North Sea Environment.
Eureka Pumps area sales manager in Norway Dave Minshall said: “It was essential to use an experienced and flexible radiator supplier familiar with the strict requirements needed in the Culzean gas field, who could deliver high-quality, on time and on budget.”
The EDG package, developed by Eureka Pumps, is powered by an AtEX rated (Zone 2) 12V4000P83 MTU engine with all ancillaries contained within an A60 container, measuring 8m x 5m x 4.9m.
The radiators built by Broadland Radiators measure 4m in width to fit the size of the restricted application.
Broadland Radiators general manager Darrell Roper said: “Not only does the radiator enable the engine to operate efficiently at the highest potential ambient temperature of 24.5°C, it helps to dissipate the heat from the exhaust gas cooler.

The larger ESG package measures 9.8m x 5m x 5.3m and comes with a 20V4000P83 MTU engine.
The radiators on both units are made in mild steel with the cores solder dipped for the offshore environment.
They also feature NORSOK paint specification M501 as finished coating.
The EDG and ESG packages are expected to begin their operations at Culzean field this year.
Discovered in 2008 by Maersk Oil, the Culzean field is located around 145 miles east of Aberdeen.
The field is expected to host 250-300 million barrels of oil equivalent.
Production is expected to start in 2019 and carry a life of at least 13 years.
