Bredero Shaw, a pipe coating division of ShawCor, has been awarded a contract by BP Exploration (Shah Deniz) for providing coating services at the South Caucasus Pipeline Expansion (SCPX) project.
The $70m contract involves coating approximately 491km of predominately 48in-pipe with 3-layer Polyethylene and internal flow coating.

BP has signed the contract on behalf of the South Caucasus Pipeline Company (SCPC) while coating operations are expected to start in 2014 and be completed in late 2015.
The SCPX project is aimed at expanding the capacity of the existing South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP) system to accommodate additional gas throughput from the Shah Deniz Stage 2 development in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea.
SCP, a gas pipeline with a length of 691km, will transport gas from the Shah Deniz field to Turkey.
It follows the route of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) crude oil pipeline through Azerbaijan and Georgia to Turkey, where it is linked to the Turkish gas distribution system.
