Aker Solutions has won a NOK4.5bn ($590m) engineering contract for work at the Statoil-operated Johan Sverdrup development in the Norwegian North Sea.
The five-year deal requires Aker to provide engineering, procurement and management assistance services until planned production commences at the start of 2019.
The contract includes engineering and procurement management for the riser and processing platform topsides of the Johan Sverdrup field.
Aker will also be responsible for hook-up work and gangways for the entire field.
The deal, which covers work in the development’s first phase, is part of a ten-year framework contract won by Aker in December 2013.
The field is estimated to hold 1.8 billion to 2.9 billion barrels of oil equivalents and is expected to produce 550,000 barrels of oil equivalents per day (boepd) to 650,000boepd.

By GlobalDataStatoil development and production Norway executive vice-president Arne Sigve Nylund said: "The Johan Sverdrup field development is of great importance, not just to Statoil and our partners, but also to the supply industry and society.
"At plateau, the production from this field will account for 25% of the combined production on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. Although the prospects for the future of the field are very good maintaining the right focus on costs both in the construction and operations phase is essential."
Statoil said the contract award is conditional on an investment decision for the Johan Sverdrup development in February and is subject to field development and operation plan approval from parliament this year.
Statoil recently awarded a riser platform jacket delivery contract to Kvaerner Verdal for the Johan Sverdrup field.
