MOL Pakistan, a fully owned subsidiary of MOL Group, has made three gas discoveries in the TAL Block located in the Kohat Plateau of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The discoveries were made at the Razgir-1 exploratory well, which was spudded on 9 January 2024, and drilled to a depth of 3,950m.

The TAL Block gas discoveries are a result of three successful well tests in separate geological formations.

The Razgir-1 well was completed ahead of schedule, and testing operations are ongoing to determine the full potential of the discoveries.

Gas and condensate were found in three reservoirs, with the ‘Lumshiwal-1 Formation’ testing at approximately 3,800 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd), the ‘Kawagarh Formation’ at about 3,000boepd, and the ‘Lockhart Formation’ achieving an approximate flow rate of 3,500boepd.

MOL’s share of the production is expected to be in the range of 400-800boepd, contributing roughly 1% to the group’s total hydrocarbon production.
