Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Holdings Bernad (MHB) subsidiary Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering (MMHE) has secured a contract from Vestigo Petroleum.

The engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) contract involves fabrication of two wellhead platforms – Irong Timur and Berantai East – each of them weighing approximately 1,500 tonnes (t).

Following completion, these platforms will be deployed offshore Peninsular Malaysia to support Vestigo Petroleum’s field development plans.

MHB CEO and managing director Mohd Nazir Mohd Nor said: “We sincerely thank VESTIGO for their trust in MHB. Our partnership, which began in 2016, has been built on collaboration and a shared commitment to delivering high-quality offshore solutions. We are pleased to support their development plans once again.

“This award is a testament to MHB’s long-standing expertise and solid reputation, built over five decades in the offshore oil and gas industry. Securing this project through competitive bidding and strategic contracting against leading regional players underscores our technical excellence, cost-effectiveness and ability to deliver outstanding results.”

The two wellhead platforms will be constructed at MMHE’s West Yard in Pasir Gudang, Johor.

MMHE stated that it will leverage its fabrication facilities as well as offshore expertise to build the platforms.

“As we move forward, we remain committed to executing all projects safely, on schedule and to the highest industry standards,” Nor added.

Last October, Vestigo Petroleum secured a small field asset production sharing contract (PSC) from Petronas for the NBE Cluster off Sabah.

This cluster features the Nosong, Bongawan North and Epidot (NBE) fields, which focus on gas discoveries.

This was the first PSC awarded under the Malaysia Bid Round Plus (MBR+).

In April 2021, Vestigo Petroleum secured the South East Collins Cluster PSC from Petronas to monetise small discovered resource opportunities in Malaysian waters.

The South East Collins Cluster, located 70km north-east of Labuan Island, comprises the South East Collins and Lokan fields.

These two fields, which were discovered in the 1980s, have total estimated recoverable reserves of ten million barrels of oil. The water depths in this cluster range from 42m to 45m.
