US contractor McDermott International’s storage business, CB&I Storage Solutions, has secured a sizeable contract to build four liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) spheres for a Caribbean energy infrastructure project.
Under the work scope of the contract, McDermott’s storage business will perform engineering, procurement, fabrication and construction services for four LPG spheres, each measuring about 88ft in diameter.

The spheres will have a nominal capacity of 63,100 barrels and a design pressure of 290 pounds per square inch (psi).
McDermott noted that fabrication and procurement will be carried out at the company’s Fairbanks facility in Houston, Texas, US.
Meanwhile, engineering will be performed at the company’s Illinois office.
According to the US contractor, a sizeable contract awarded to the company is expected to range between $1m and $50m.

CB&I Storage Solutions is a builder of storage facilities, tanks and terminals.
McDermott noted that the contract award will be reflected in the company’s Q1 2020 backlog.
Last month, CB&I Storage Solutions secured three contracts for the engineering, procurement, fabrication and construction (EPFC) of storage tanks in multiple locations across Saudi Arabia.
