American offshore engineering and construction services provider McDermott International has secured a contract from liquefied natural gas (LNG) company Qatargas.
Under the contract, McDermott International will deliver front-end engineering and design (FEED) services for Qatar Petroleum’s North Field South (NFS) project.
McDermott will also provide replication of five offshore wellhead platforms, as part of the contract.
The North Field South Project (NFS) is the second phase of the North Field LNG expansion project.
The field is owned by Qatar Petroleum and is operated by its subsidiary Qatargas. It lies offshore north-east Qatar peninsula.
McDermott Europe, Middle East and Africa senior vice-president Tareq Kawash said: “For more than 30 years, McDermott has executed projects in Qatar’s North Field, and we will leverage our experience and local resources to successfully deliver this project.
“As oil and gas field development continues in the region, we are poised to build on this initial work to further support Qatargas as they progress the subsequent phases of the NFS project.”
McDermott noted that the FEED contract will be executed from its office in Doha, Qatar. The contract work will start imminently.
Last November, McDermott secured a contract to provide FEED services for the Ichthys LNG field development.
