Woodside has awarded a contract to McDermott International to build the floating production unit (FPU) for the $12bn Scarborough project, offshore Western Australia.
Under the contract, McDermott will be responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) services for the FPU.
The scope of works also includes the designing, fabrication, integration, transportation and installation of the hull and topsides of the FPU.
The contract award follows the completion of the front-end engineering design for the project.
With a production capacity of up to 1.8 billion standard cubic feet per day, the topside will be connected to the semi-submersible hull.
It will be installed in a water depth of 3,100ft, approximately 248 miles offshore Western Australia.
