Engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) company KBR has secured a contract to provide the project management consulting services for Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

Under the contract, KBR will provide front-end engineering design (FEED) services at NNPC’s headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria.

The company will serve as co-consultant with the National Engineering and Technical Company (NETCO) to provide technical consulting services for four greenfield refineries in the Assa North / Ohaji South (ANOH) and Western Forcados area.

Work is expected to last for over six months and will involve KBR providing strategic advisory consulting on condensate elimination from oil export streams.

The company noted that the elimination of condensate will reduce dependency and cost of imported refined products.

KBR will conduct the work from its Leatherhead office in the UK with support from the Middle East and Houston, US.

KBR Energy Solutions services president Jay Ibrahim said: “We are delighted to be part of this strategic project supporting a prestigious partner to deliver the transition to an increasingly sustainable energy solution for Nigeria.

“The work will be undertaken by KBR’s consulting team, where our strategic master-planning capability resides to help customers improve their sustainability, energy efficiency and maximise asset performance.”

The primary objective of this contract is to upgrade gas condensate to refined fuel products, which decrease the country’s dependence on expensive imported fuels.

KBR noted that the project aligns with the company’s gas monetisation and asset optimisation strategies, together providing a sustainable solution to Nigeria in terms of fuel security and economic development.
