On 23 November, Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi group fired a missile that struck a distribution station operated by oil and gas company Saudi Aramco.
A Houthi military spokesman claimed a missile was fired at the distribution station located in Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea city of Jeddah, according to media sources.

However, there was ‘no immediate Saudi confirmation’ of the claim made by the Houthi group’s military spokesman.
Houthi spokesman Yahya Sarea reportedly warned ‘foreign companies and residents in Saudi to exercise caution as operations will continue’.
He said that the strike had been carried out as a ‘response to the Saudi-led coalition’s actions’ in Yemen and noted that the attack was carried out with a Quds-2 type winged missile.
Aramco’s oil production and export facilities are mostly in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province, over 1,000km across the country from Jeddah.

The Houthi rebels have been engaged in a war with Saudi-led forces in Yemen since March 2015. Since then, the rebel group ‘carried out many missile and drone strikes on civilian airports and oil infrastructure’ in Saudi. There were also many attacks on the country’s capital city Riyadh.
The Houthi insurgency in Yemen was a military rebellion pitting Zaidi Shia Houthis against the Yemeni military that started in Northern Yemen and has since intensified into a full-scale civil war.
In September last year, drones attacked the world’s largest oil processing plant in Buqyaq and the Saudi Aramco-operated Khurais oilfield in Saudi Arabia. Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for the attack.
