A consortium comprising liquified natural gas (LNG) infrastructure company GAS Entec, AG&P, and local partner Issa Haddadin has been awarded a contract to construct an onshore regasification LNG terminal in Jordan.
Called the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah LNG Terminal Project, the terminal will be located in the Port of Aqaba.
The tender, granted by Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC), will see the consortium undertake full engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning of the facility.
The project includes a 720 million standard cubic feet per day onshore LNG regasification facility, marine works, and jetty topside work.
It is expected to be completed and operational within 22 months.
Recognised as a critical energy initiative for Jordan, the terminal is expected to address the country’s challenges with natural gas supply reliability.
