Norwegian oil and gas operator DNO has ramped up production three times from the Peshkabir field in the Tawke licence within the Kurdistan region of Iraq.

The production increased to 15,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd) after the Peshkabir-3 well testing, stimulation and cleanup programme was completed.

As part of the well testing exercise, a total of 11 zones in a 1.2km horizontal section of Cretaceous and Jurassic reservoir in the Peshkabir-3 well were individually tested and flowed.

According to the company, the oil zones tested an average of 5,340bopd per zone, with the highest individual test rate of 7,200bopd.

Based on a multi-zone combined production test, the well returned a total of 12,500bopd on a 128in/64in choke from five zones.

“According to the company, the oil zones tested an average of 5,340bopd per zone, with the highest individual test rate of 7,200bopd.”

For the Tawke licence, DNO and its partner are proceeding with plans to commission an early production facility by the end of the year, with a complete installation of pipeline connections early next year to enhance output at the Peshkabir field.

Preparations are currently in progress to drill the Peshkabir-4 well, which will also be designed to test the underlying Triassic reservoir.

DNO operates the Tawke licence, which comprises the Tawke and Peshkabir fields, with a 75% interest, while the remaining stake is held by Genel Energy.

The combined year-to-date production of the fields has averaged 110,000bopd.
