Cheniere Energy has announced the first production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the Corpus Christi Stage 3 Liquefaction project’s (CCL Stage 3) first train (Train 1) in Texas, US.
The commissioning process is ongoing, and the company anticipates substantial completion of Train 1 by the end of the first quarter of 2025, over six months ahead of schedule.
Upon substantial completion, Bechtel Energy is set to transfer care, custody, and control of the completed train to Cheniere.
The full notice to proceed on CCL Stage 3 was issued to Bechtel by Cheniere in June 2022.
CCL Stage 3 comprises seven midscale trains, expected to yield a total production capacity of over 10Mt per annum (mtpa) of LNG.
As of November 30, 2024, the CCL Stage 3 project had reached an overall completion rate of 75.9%. This included 96.8% of engineering, 97.2% of procurement, 87.7% of subcontract work, and 39.2% of construction finalised.

Cheniere is a full-service LNG provider, with capabilities spanning from gas procurement and transportation to liquefaction, vessel chartering, and LNG delivery.
The company’s liquefaction platforms include the Sabine Pass and Corpus Christi facilities on the US Gulf Coast, boasting a total operational production capacity of approximately 45mtpa of LNG, and an additional 10+mtpa of production capacity currently under construction.
Also last week, Venture Global’s Plaquemines LNG plant achieved a major milestone by dispatching its first cargo of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Germany.
The LNG carrier, Venture Bayou, set to sail from Louisiana and is expected to arrive in Brunsbüttel, Germany, by January 8, 2025.
