China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) is set to install and commission the world’s first 100,000t deepwater semi-submersible production and storage platform at the Lingshui 17-2 gas field development project offshore China.
Built to ABS Class, the semi-submersible platform has a maximum oil storage capacity of nearly 20,000m³ of condensate for ship-to-ship offloading.

Located in water depths of 1,500m in the South China Sea, the Lingshui 17-2 field is situated in the northern part of the Qiongdongnan Basin in the western continental shelf (WCS) of the northern South China Sea and is approximately 150km south of Hainan Island in the South China Sea.
The field comprises eight separate gas reservoirs, each with between one and four gas layers with an average thickness of 293.3m.

In 2019, Cargotec unit MacGregor was selected to supply the riser pull-in system for the deepwater floating production unit (FPU) located in the Lingshui 17-2 gas field.
