CGG has expanded its geoscience presence with a newly established regional centre in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The centre will provide clients in the Middle East with geophysical, geological and reservoir technology and support.

It also enables CGG to directly offer its geoscience portfolio for exploration and field development to national and independent oil companies across the region.

A new team of geoscience specialists will complement the existing seismic imaging and geoscience software teams at the company’s existing Abu Dhabi centre.

Local clients can also benefit from services offered by carbonate sedimentologists, structural geologists and petrophysicists from CGG’s Robertson Geology and Reservoir Sciences division.

They can also access the centre’s reservoir engineering and geomechanics specialists.

CGG also has experts in technologies such as seismic inversion, satellite mapping and multi-physics imaging in the Middle East.

In a statement, CGG said its clients could now benefit from the company’s GeoTraining capability to develop their in-house talent through structured geoscience training and learning programmes.

CGG EAME Geoscience senior vice-president Peter Whiting said: “CGG’s Middle East Regional Geoscience Centre in Abu Dhabi now offers much more than the excellence in seismic imaging for which it has been well known since its launch in 2001.

“It will serve as a strategic technology centre where our clients can engage directly with our highly experienced team of geoscientists to meet their technical challenges and business needs.”
