Arabian Drilling Company has awarded German company Siemens a contract to modernise the full drilling-drives package and cooling system of its jackup rig.
The modernised drilling-drives lineup, including auxiliaries and controls, will be installed on an offshore jackup rig for an undisclosed customer in the Middle East.
Besides the addition of new features, the upgrade will enable the customer to meet safety standards.
Siemens said that it has scheduled the new system’s delivery for early next year.
It will engineer, design, manufacture and deliver the fully integrated modernisation based on its BlueDrive technology.
Siemens’ solution Master2Blue will use the existing footprint, cable network and communication points to quickly and safely install and commission the system.
