Notably, Architecture and Engineering Occupations jobs accounted for a 19% share of the global oil and gas industry’s renewable energy-related total new job postings in Q2 2024, down 9% over the prior quarter.
Architecture and Engineering Occupations drive renewable energy-related hiring activity
Architecture and Engineering Occupations, with a share of 19%, emerged as the top renewable energy-related job roles within the oil and gas industry in Q2 2024, with new job postings drop by 9% quarter-on-quarter. Management Occupations came in second with a share of 8% in Q2 2024, with new job postings dropping by 25% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent renewable energy roles include Business and Financial Operations Occupations with a 7% share in Q2 2024, Installation, Maintenance, and Repair Occupations with a 6% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in oil and gas industry accounted for 48% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2024 were Worley, McDermott International, SBM Offshore, Suburban Propane, and MFA Oil. Together they accounted for a combined share of 48% of all renewable energy-related new jobs in the oil and gas industry.
Worley posted 1,111 renewable energy-related new jobs in Q2 2024, McDermott International 699 jobs, SBM Offshore 392 jobs, Suburban Propane 384 jobs, and MFA Oil 213 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 46.40% share of total new job postings, Q2 2024
The largest share of renewable energy-related new job postings in the oil and gas industry in Q2 2024 was in the US with 46.40% followed by Australia (10.94%) and India (10.92%). The share represented by the US was 12 percentage points higher than the 34.22% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
