Management Occupations drive oil and gas industry hiring activity
Management Occupations, with a share of 11% new job postings, was the occupation with the greatest hiring activity in the Asia-Pacific oil and gas industry in Q2 2024 , ahead of Architecture and Engineering Occupations with an 8% share of new job postings.
The other prominent roles included Life, Physical, and Social Science Occupations with a 6% share in Q2 2024, Office and Administrative Support Occupations with a 5% share and Computer and Mathematical Occupations with a 5% share of new job postings.
Top five companies accounted for 29% of hiring activity
The top five companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined 29% of the overall hiring activity in the Asia-Pacific oil and gas industry in Q2 2024.
PI Industries posted 1,944 jobs in Q2 2024 and registered a decline of 55% over the previous quarter, followed by Nufarm with 1,166 jobs and a 31% drop. Worley, with 1,088 jobs, and BP, with 762 jobs, recorded a 23% drop and an 83% rise, respectively, while State of Alaska recorded a 30% increase with a 759 new job postings during Q2 2024.
Regional analysis of hiring in the Asia-Pacific oil and gas industry, Q2 2024
India held the leading share of the Asia-Pacific oil and gas hiring activity with a 43.86% share, a 26% decrease over Q1 2024. Australia was next with 14.27%, four-percentage-point down over the previous quarter.
