Architecture and Engineering Occupations drive energy transition-related hiring activity
Architecture and Engineering Occupations, with a share of 15%, emerged as the top energy transition-related job roles within the oil and gas industry in Q2 2024, with new job postings drop by 21% quarter-on-quarter. Management Occupations came in second with a share of 10% in Q2 2024, with new job postings dropping by 10% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent energy transition roles include Business and Financial Operations Occupations with a 7% share in Q2 2024, Office and Administrative Support Occupations with a 7% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in oil and gas industry accounted for 31% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2024 were Worley, DuPont de Nemours, Shell, SBM Offshore, and Suburban Propane. Together they accounted for a combined share of 31% of all energy transition-related new jobs in the oil and gas industry.
Worley posted 1,115 energy transition-related new jobs in Q2 2024, DuPont de Nemours 547 jobs, Shell 440 jobs, SBM Offshore 395 jobs, and Suburban Propane 384 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 41.01% share of total new job postings, Q2 2024
The largest share of energy transition-related new job postings in the oil and gas industry in Q2 2024 was in the US with 41.01% followed by Australia (10.39%) and India (8.73%). The share represented by the US was four percentage points higher than the 37.19% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
