April 2022 has seen an increase of 0.15% in the overall hiring activity when compared with March 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 6.34% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in April 2022, registering an increase of 0.4% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in April 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 46.08% in April 2022, a 9.45% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 21.27% in April 2022, marking a 37.7% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 16.46% in April 2022, a 19.75% drop from March 2022.

Top five oil & gas companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in April 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 70% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s oil & gas industry during April 2022 over previous month.
Shell posted 99 IT jobs in April 2022 and registered an increase of 266.67% over the previous month, followed by BASF with 31 jobs and a 19.23% growth. Exxon Mobil with 28 IT jobs and TotalEnergies with 24 jobs, recorded a 12% rise and a 60% rise, respectively, while LyondellBasell Industries recorded an 18.52% decline with 22 job postings during April 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s oil & gas industry
The UK commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 31.65% share in April 2022, a 38.89% increase over March 2022. Germany featured next with a 14.18% share, down 18.84% over the previous month. France recorded a 12.66% share, a growth of 42.86% compared with March 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in April 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 70.89%, down by 3.78% from March 2022. Mid Level positions with a 20.25% share, registered a growth of 33.33% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 8.1% share, down 21.95% over March 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.76%, recording a month-on-month decline of 25%.
