Notably, Architecture and Engineering Occupations jobs accounted for an 18% share of the global oil and gas industry’s lng-related total new job postings in Q2 2024, up 24% over the prior quarter.

Architecture and Engineering Occupations drive lng-related hiring activity

Architecture and Engineering Occupations, with a share of 18%, emerged as the top lng-related job roles within the oil and gas industry in Q2 2024, with new job postings rising by 24% quarter-on-quarter. Production Occupations came in second with a share of 9% in Q2 2024, with new job postings rising by 47% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent lng roles include Management Occupations with an 8% share in Q2 2024, Business and Financial Operations Occupations with a 6% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in oil and gas industry accounted for 53% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2024 were Venture Global LNG, John Wood Group, Santos, Energy Transfer, and NES Global Talent Norge. Together they accounted for a combined share of 53% of all lng-related new jobs in the oil and gas industry.

Venture Global LNG posted 159 lng-related new jobs in Q2 2024, John Wood Group 105 jobs, Santos 99 jobs, Energy Transfer 92 jobs, and NES Global Talent Norge 65 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 43.20% share of total new job postings, Q2 2024

The largest share of lng-related new job postings in the oil and gas industry in Q2 2024 was in the US with 43.20% followed by Australia (23.23%) and Qatar (5.88%). The share represented by the US was two percentage points higher than the 41.34% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
