August 2021 has seen a decrease of 11.72% in the overall hiring activity when compared with July 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 5.98% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in August 2021, registering an increase of 0.31% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in August 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 51.83% in August 2021, an 18.27% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 16.16% in August 2021, marking an 11.67% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 14.33% in August 2021, a 14.55% drop from July 2021.

Top five oil & gas companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 19.84% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s oil & gas industry during August 2021 over previous month.
Exxon Mobil posted 56 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered an increase of 40% over the previous month, followed by BASF with 34 jobs and a 17.24% growth. Yara International with 28 IT jobs and Evonik Industries with 18 jobs, recorded a 3.45% drop and a 28.57% rise, respectively, while Akzo Nobel recorded a 7.14% increase with 15 job postings during August 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s oil & gas industry
Germany commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 28.66% share in August 2021, a 13.76% decrease over July 2021. Hungary featured next with a 16.77% share, up 5.77% over the previous month. The UK recorded a 14.02% share, a drop of 19.3% compared with July 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 67.68%, down by 20.43% from July 2021. Mid Level positions with an 18.9% share, registered a decline of 8.82% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 12.2% share, down 33.33% over July 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.22%, recording a month-on-month growth of 100%.
