April 2021 has seen an increase of 0.01% in the overall hiring activity when compared with March 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 7.54% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in April 2021, registering an increase of 0.18% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in April 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 68.65% in April 2021, a 5.02% growth over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 13.52% in April 2021, marking a 20% month-on-month an increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 7.58% in April 2021, a 35.09% drop from March 2021.

Top five oil & gas companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in April 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 25.56% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s oil & gas industry during April 2021 over previous month.
Royal Dutch Shell posted 115 IT jobs in April 2021 and registered a an increase of 41.98% over the previous month, followed by Reliance Industries with 70 jobs and a 125.81% growth. Exxon Mobil with 60 IT jobs and Yara International with 56 jobs, recorded a 14.29% decline and a 30.23% increase, respectively, while Baker Hughes Holdings recorded a 15.56% decline with 38 job postings during April 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s oil & gas industry
India commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 68.03% share in April 2021, a 7.1% rise over March 2021. China featured next with an 8.2% share, down 11.11% over the previous month. Malaysia recorded a 6.97% share, a flat growth compared with March 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in April 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 84.43%, up by 25.61% from March 2021. Mid Level positions with a 9.63% share, a decline of 63.28% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 5.94% share, down 23.68% over March 2021.
