The regasification capacity in the Middle East increased from 1,818bcf in 2016 to 4,523bcf in 2021 at an AAGR of 18.2%. Al-Zour (Kuwait), Aliaga (Turkey) and Marmara Ereglisi (Turkey) are the major active regasification terminals in the Middle East.
Turkey leads among countries in the Middle East with a regasification capacity of 1,882bcf in 2021, contributing 41.6% of the region’s total capacity. Aliaga, Marmara Ereglisi and Saros Floating are the major active regasification terminals in the country.
The total regasification capacity of Kuwait in 2021 was 1,438bcf. Kuwait’s share in the Middle East’s total regasification capacity was 31.8%. Al-Zour and Mina Al-Ahmadi GasPort Floating II are the two active regasification terminals in the country.
In the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates stands in the third position among countries, with a regasification capacity of 544bcf, contributing to 12% of the region’s total regasification capacity in 2021. Jebel Ali Floating II and Ruwais Floating are the two active regasification terminals in the country.
