GlobalData’s latest report, ‘Global Length and Capital Expenditure Outlook for Oil and Gas Pipelines, 2022-2026’, indicates that a total of 536 planned and announced trunk/transmission oil and gas pipelines are expected to come online during the outlook period of 2022 to 2026. Of these, 333 represent planned pipelines with identified development plans, while 203 show the count of early-stage announced pipelines that are undergoing conceptual studies and are expected to get development approval.
Asia leads globally in terms of newbuild pipeline length growth, with an oil and gas pipeline length of 58,021km by 2026. North America and Europe follow with lengths of 20,022km and 17,151km, respectively.
India leads among countries globally, with a planned and announced pipeline length of 28,934km from 2022 to 2026. China and the US follow with pipeline lengths of 17,810km and 12,305km, respectively.
The longest pipeline globally in terms of length that would start operations by 2026 is the Xinjiang-Guangdong-Zhejiang SNG gas pipeline in China with a length of 8,972km. The Kandla-Gorakhpur product pipeline in India and Zhongwei-Ji gas pipeline in China follow with lengths of 2,809km and 2,090km, respectively.
