GlobalData’s latest report, ‘Asia Capacity and Capital Expenditure Outlook for LNG Regasification Terminals, 2021-2025 – China Dominates LNG Regasification Capacity Additions and Capex Spending in Asia’ indicates that Asia liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification capacity is expected to grow from 26.5 trillion cubic feet (tcf) in 2021 to 42.1tcf in 2025 from newbuild and expansion projects. The capacity additions are both from planned projects with identified development plans, and early-stage announced projects that are undergoing conceptual studies and that are expected to get approved for development.
China dominates Asia with 6.0tcf regasification capacity additions by 2025. India and Pakistan follow with capacities of 3.4tcf and 1.8tcf, respectively.
Among planned and announced terminals in Asia that are expected to start operations by 2025, Tangshan II in China has the highest LNG regasification capacity additions with 584.4 billion cubic feet (bcf). Seomkum in South Korea and Yantai I in China are the other major terminals with 564.9bcf and 487.0bcf, respectively
