GlobalData’s latest report, ‘Global LNG Industry Outlook to 2026 – Capacity and Capital Expenditure Outlook with Details of All Operating and Planned Terminals’, indicates that the total regasification capacity of Asia in 2021 was 25,978 billion cubic feet (bcf). The regasification capacity in Asia increased from 21,149bcf in 2016 to 25,978bcf in 2021 at an AAGR of 4.1%. Incheon (South Korea), Pyeongtaek (South Korea) and Sodegaura (Japan) are the major active regasification terminals in Asia.
Japan leads among countries In Asia with a regasification capacity of 10,209bcf in 2021, contributing to 39.3% of the region’s total capacity. Sodegaura, Futtsu and Higashi Ohgishima are the major active regasification terminals in the country.
South Korea ranks second with a total regasification capacity of 5,263bcf in 2021. South Korea holds 20.3% of Asia’s total regasification capacity. Incheon, Pyeongtaek and Tongyeong are the major active regasification terminals in the country.
In Asia, China stands in the third position among countries with a regasification capacity of 5,039bcf, contributing to 19.4% of Asia’s total regasification capacity in 2021. Tianjin, Dalian and Jiangsu are the major active regasification terminals in the country.
