GlobalData’s latest report, “Global Capacity and Capital Expenditure Outlook for Refineries, 2022,” indicates that global hydrocracker capacity is expected to witness a growth of 18.0% over the next four years, potentially increasing from 13.2 million barrels per day (MMbd) in 2022 to 15.6MMbd by 2026.
Asia’s hydrocracker capacity is expected to reach 6.1MMbd in 2026, the highest among all regions globally. North America follows with 2.9MMbd.
In terms of hydrocracker capacity additions, Asia would lead during the 2022 to 2026 outlook period. It is expected to add 2.0MMbd of hydrocracker capacity by 2026. It will be followed by Africa and the Middle East with 723 thousand barrels per day (Mbd) and 269Mbd, respectively.
The Lianyungang I refinery in China is the leading upcoming refinery globally in terms of hydrocracker capacity from 2022 to 2026. It is expected to start operations in 2022 with a capacity of 208.5Mbd. It is expected to be followed by Jieyang, and Yulong, both in China, with capacities of 164.7Mtpa, and 164.6Mtpa, respectively.
