Shell unit Equilon Enterprises closes $1.2bn sale of Martinez Refinery

Equilon Enterprises concluded its $1.2bn sale of the Martinez Refinery in California to PBF Energy subsidiary PBF Holding on behalf of Shell Oil Products US.

Martinez is a high-conversion refinery that produces premium gasoline, diesel and jet fuel.

Crude supply and product offtake agreements were also part of the deal signed by Shell and PBF to ensure that the former’s customers will continue to have access to quality Shell-branded fuels.


Eversource to buy Columbia Gas’ Massachusetts assets for $1.1bn

Eversource Energy acquired the natural gas assets of Columbia Gas in Massachusetts, US, from its parent company NiSource for $1.1bn.

Columbia Gas of Massachusetts provides natural gas to more than 320,000 customers in south-eastern Massachusetts, the greater Springfield area and the Merrimack Valley, all in the US.

Headquartered in Westborough, US, it provides natural gas service to residential and commercial customers in over 60 communities across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Coronavirus Covid-19: Chevron sends 300 London employees home

US oil company Chevron asked around 300 employees based at its London office to work from home amid concerns that one of its staff has contracted the coronavirus Covid-19.

An employee working form the company’s Canary Wharf office in London, UK, was showing symptoms of the flu.

The company asked traders, exploration and refining unit employees to work remotely until it received the results of the test.


CenterPoint Energy to sell natural gas retail business for $400m

CenterPoint Energy (CNP) signed an agreement to sell its natural gas retail business to private equity firm Energy Capital Partners (ECP) in a deal valued at around $400m.

CenterPoint Energy Services (CES) provides natural gas sales, storage and supply, as well as other energy-related services. It has approximately 30,000 commercial and industrial customers, utilities and municipalities across more than 30 US states.

CES signed a structured long-term preferred supply agreement, under which oil and gas firm Shell’s North American unit will provide gas supply and collateral support.


Eni signs MoU with Tatweer Petroleum to collaborate in energy sector

Italian firm Eni signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Tatweer Petroleum to boost collaboration in the energy sector.

Under the strategic collaboration, Eni now works with Tatweer to jointly assess and launch new initiatives in the fields of renewable energy, liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply and oil and gas exploration.

Eni said that the renewable energy sector is an area of particular interest considering the potential business opportunities it offers to Bahrain.


India’s IOCL to import two million tonnes of oil from Rosneft

The state-owned Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) signed a contract with Russian energy firm Rosneft to import two million tonnes (Mt) of oil.

The oil will be supplied via the port of Novorossiysk by the end of this year.

As part of the signing, Indian Petroleum & Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin discussed the ongoing joint projects, including Sakhalin-1, Taas-Yuryakh, the Vankor cluster field, Far East LNG and Nayara Energy.


Chevron commissions study on potential of Svante’s technology in US

Chevron Technology Ventures (CTV) commissioned a pre-front end engineering design (pre-FEED) study to explore the potential of trialling Svante’s technology in its operations.

The study will analyse the feasibility and design aspects of adding a 10,000 million tons per annum (Mtpa) carbon capture pilot unit at a California-based Chevron facility.

The evaluation on the facility is expected to complete in the first half of this year.


Tellurian extends Petronet LNG deal finalisation by two months

US natural gas company Tellurian extended its expected finalisation of a partnership deal with India’s Petronet by two months.

The deal covers Tellurian’s proposed Driftwood liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Louisiana, US.

The Driftwood LNG project lies on the west bank of the Calcasieu River, south of Lake Charles.
