GlobalData’s latest report, ‘Global FPSO Industry Outlook, 2021–2026 – Brazil Continues to Lead Global Upcoming FPSO Deployments,’ indicates that a total of 55 planned and announced floating production, storage and offloading units (FPSOs) are expected to start operations during the outlook period 2021–2026. Of these, 24 represent the number of planned FPSOs with identified development plans and 31 represent the number of early-stage announced FPSOs that are undergoing conceptual studies and are expected to get approved for development.
South America leads globally among the regions, in terms of planned and announced FPSO additions, contributing around 45% of the total FPSO additions or 25 FPSOs by 2026. Africa, Asia and Europe follow with eleven, seven and five FPSOs, respectively.
Among countries, unsurprisingly Brazil leads globally in planned and announced FPSO additions with 21 FPSOs during the outlook period. The UK follows with four FPSOs.
Among operators, Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) leads globally with ten planned and announced FPSOs. Modec Inc and SBM Offshore NV follow with four FPSOs each.
