April 2021 has seen an decrease of 13.89% in the overall hiring activity when compared with March 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 4.23% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in April 2021, registering an increase of 0.3% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in April 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 49.68% in April 2021, a 28.9% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 15.71% in April 2021, marking a 16.67% month-on-month an increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 15.38% in April 2021, a 27.27% drop from March 2021.

Top five oil & gas companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in April 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 13.08% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s oil & gas industry during April 2021 over previous month.
BASF posted 38 IT jobs in April 2021 and registered a an increase of 15.15% over the previous month, followed by Exxon Mobil with 27 jobs and a 42.11% growth. Total with 21 IT jobs and Akzo Nobel with 18 jobs, recorded a 133.33% growth and a 5.88% increase, respectively, while Yara International recorded a 41.38% decline with 17 job postings during April 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s oil & gas industry
Germany commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 23.4% share in April 2021, a 23.96% decline over March 2021. the UK featured next with a 13.46% share, down 17.65% over the previous month. France recorded an 11.22% share, a growth of 2.94% compared with March 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in April 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 74.36%, down by 20% from March 2021. Mid Level positions with a 15.38% share, a decline of 20% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 8.97% share, down 39.13% over March 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.28%, recording a month-on-month growth of 100%.
