12 November

Globally, the total confirmed cases of Covid-19 have reached over 52.2 million with more than 1,286,000 deaths and 33,992,000 recoveries.

The US have the highest number of confirmed cases and continues to rise.

India has the second highest number of cases but is now trending down.

Levels in the EU continue to trend upwards.

Denmark has been trending upwards in cases since July, correlating with an increase in testing.

On 5 November  a unique variant of SARS-CoV-2, the virus which causes Covid-19, was detected in 12 cases associated with mink.

This variant, referred to as the ‘cluster 5’ variant, has a combination of mutations that were not previously observed in circulating strains.

One of the responses Denmark officials are taking includes the culling of over 17 million farmed mink, enhanced surveillance in the affected area, and introduction of new movement restrictions to reduce transmission.
