Coronavirus infections in the US have already surpassed 1 million in the first ten days of November alone, data compiled by Bloomberg show. The US has seen more than 100,000 cases for six straight days.
US sees record Covid hospitalisations. The Covid-Tracking project reports that the US on Tuesday saw its highest number of people hospitalises with coronavirus of the pandemic so far – a day after breaking the record on Monday. The number of hospitalisations currently stands at 61,964.
Wisconsin reported 7,073 new Covid-19 cases, a daily record for the Midwestern state. Governor Tony Evers on Tuesday implored residents to stay home and recommended businesses stagger shifts.

China: Mainland China reported 17 new Covid-19 cases on 10 November, down from 22 reported a day earlier, the country’s health authority said on Wednesday.
Singapore: The Ministry of Health announced plans to make a coronavirus test available to all. Anyone who needs a test will be able to get one from an approved provider from 1 December as the country seeks to resume more economic and social activities.
UK: The government is set to hand more than £40 billion to companies that can help in its drive to ramp up mass coronavirus testing.

South Korea: Shares in South Korea’s Celltrion jumped after Chairman Seo Jung-Jin said the company plans to apply for sales approval for the firm’s Covid-19 drug as early as the end of the year after completing a phase 2 clinical trial. Seo says he hopes authorities grant fast-track approval for the drug.
Brazil: The decision to suspend Sinovac Biotech Ltd.’s coronavirus vaccine trials in Brazil’s largest state has baffled local researchers and prompted speculation that the move could be political.
US: Anthony Fauci, the top US infectious-disease expert, said Americans less at risk for contracting Covid-19 could have access to a vaccine by April.
Lockdown updates
Iran: Iran imposed a nightly curfew on businesses in Tehran and other cities on Tuesday, as it battles a major surge in coronavirus infections.
Lebanon: In Lebanon, caretaker Prime Minister Hassan Diab announced a lockdown on Tuesday night that will begin on Saturday and last until the end of the month.
UK: Students in England will be given a six-day window in December in which to travel home before Christmas, with mass testing carried out on campus before they are allowed to leave.
Mongolia: Mongolia returned to lockdown for three days on Wednesday, after two people were diagnosed with Covid-19. The country will ban flights into the country as well as all travel in and out of the capital Ulaanbaatar.
