Oilfield services firm TechnipFMC has secured a contract for integrated engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (iEPCI) from BP Angola.
The contract is in Block 18 on the Platina field. Water depths there range from 1,200m to 1,500m.
According to the company, the contract is worth between $75m and $250m. Under the work scope of the contract, TechnipFMC will manufacture, deliver and install subsea equipment.
This will include subsea trees, connection systems, and a production manifold with infrastructure such as subsea control. The contract will also cover the design and installation of rigid pipelines, umbilicals and flexible jumpers.
The Platina field was discovered in 1999. It is planned as a subsea connection to the existing Greater Plutonio floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel .
TechnipFMC subsea president Arnaud Pieton said: “We are very pleased to have been selected by BP for this important deepwater development offshore Angola.

By GlobalData“We are committed to BP and to supporting the Angolan oil and gas industry. This iEPCI follows iFEED work and will utilise our local assets such as our service base in Luanda and our umbilical factory in Lobito.”
In January this year, TechnipFMC reaffirmed the timeline for its planned split into two separate diversified pure-play entities.
Previously, in October last year, the company secured a significant subsea contract for the Nam Con Son 2 Phase 2 pipeline development across Nam Con Son basin and Cuu Long basin in Vietnam.
In December 2018, BP and Sonangol signed an agreement to advance the development of the Platina field, through making a final investment decision (FID).
